New Zealand's elite motocross racers should now be able to mount a serious assault on the New Zealand round of the Australasian Supercross Championships as well as their own domestic motocross championships. Saturday night, November 21, is the date for round six of seven of the Super X Series, the Australasian Supercross Championships, set for the Waikato Stadium in Hamilton. The following weekend -- November 29 -- was to have been the date for the final round of the senior national motocross championships, with New Plymouth's Barrett Road Motorcycle Park facility as the venue. But, in an effort to ease the congestion on a jam-packed race calendar and to allow riders time to adjust from motocross to supercross mode, the domestic calendar has been tweaked and will wrap up before the international supercross event in Hamilton. Thanks to the foresight and flexibility of the Pukekohe Motorcycle Club, they have agreed to give up hosting a round of the nationals this season. The New Zealand Motocross Championships have now been reduced to four rounds, with November 15 now being taken up by the Taranaki club, to host what will now be the fourth and final round of the series. "It was important for us to get our national motocross championships wrapped up before our riders tackled this supercross event," said Motorcycling New Zealand motocross commissioner Mike McLeod.
