| Cameron Dillon Heads to USA | ||||
|
Coming off a very successful first season in Senior Motocross, Mangakino's Cameron Dillon is about to take his racing another step further.
Dillon who won the Inaurgral U21 125cc championship this year and finished runner up behind Yamaha's Damien King in the 125cc class, and has been selected by Taupo Motorcycle Club as the first recipient for the ‘The Jim Hall Memorial Scholarship’.Dillon with long serving mechanic "Dicdog" will travel to the United States in March to prepare with current factory Honda Rider Ben Townley. Dillon will then race in the two Spring Amateur Nationals at Oak Hill and Lake Whitney, both of which are in Texas.
Dillon is eligible for up to four classes of racing so it should give hime plenty of seat time against the future stars of American Motocross.
He will also train with Townley for the 4 weeks leading up to the races and then race both events on consecutive weekends.
While most choose to travel to Europe for international racing, Dillon will be folloiwng in the footsteps of factory KTM rider Mason Philips and heading for the land where bigger is better.
The trip was a success for Philips when he made the journey over and there is nothing stopping the young Dillon form doing the same. He has all the pieces in place, it is now a matter of fitting them all together.
